I currently am in arguably the riskiest part of this process. In order to get the procedure done I must agree to washout of the current medication for 6 months leaving me vulnerable to relapse. My doctors at UCSF were heavily concerned about this and lobbied Northwestern to allow for me to take a dose of a blood cancer drug Rituxan to try and mitigate this risk. I will say because this procedure is not FDA approved most doctors shy away from recommending it. When I mentioned it 18 months ago to my first doctor he asked me to do it if I wanted to die. Nice. My current neuro conceded I may be a perfect candidate and she would fully support my decision if he would agree to the infusion. He did, I received the infusion last week and I am feeling great a few days after administration.
