I’m getting closer I hope, it’s day 8!! Todays it’s possible to start seeing some engrafting but my white cell numbers this morning still show too low to count <0.001. So, my body still has some work to do. I’ll get my fifth shot to try to boost things along around noon. Because of those numbers I am still neupogenic so we are taking all precautions in the room to avoid infection.
Yesterday was one of the my least favorite days (usually people feel better this day?). My heart rate was too high (around 130) so I had to get two units of blood again to try to slow it down I guess. I took premeds and a bunch of pills. Something about watching the blood for hours go in me made me pretty queasy. Then I did the stomach shot to boost engraftment. My potassium was under the threshold so i doubled up on that also thru the IV and pills which I think they originally made for horses because the size doesn’t equate to a human being. The meds have thrown a lot of things out of whack so my kneecaps got really achy last night. They think it my be the shots but typically my knees are fine so it’s likely the med. I finally agreed to take something for the nausea before bed so i did sleep a few hours.
I read through some of the discharge things to see what to expect, I was a little surprised that I had to take the antibiotics, antifungal, antiviral medicine for 6-12 months. But i guess they are thinking of everything as you heal. Looks like for 3 mths is the most strict. like no pubic swimming pools, no going near remodeling home for 6 months (hmmmm, we are remodeling). No cleaning the yard or taking out any trash (yay). No playing with lizards (sorry Abby, I’ve really deeply bonded with that mini dino thing you have;). Some issues around children who have received a live vaccine in the past 6 months ( I need to ask what that entails). No flowers or plants in the house. Sushi and lunchmeat and tomatoes are out for a little. Anyway, I’ll do what ever is best! I’ll eat prepackaged moon food if it means I can get home.
So today, just looking for those engrafting vibes coming my way!!! my next counts will be tomorrow morning. Can’t leave until that happens so it’s just waiting game now. I still hoping for Sunday to be home but numbers really need to start moving faster to get there!
Engraft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
