Last night I slept in a nice hotel bed across the street from the hotel! I was released yesterday. I engrafted all at once and my numbers looked safe enough to peace out. I really missed the tubes in my arm, the weird inflate/deflate bed and the beeping all night….sike.
It was awesome walking outside here in the fresh air. I’m still getting through the effects of engrafting and the shots though. I’m throwing up and have some pretty serious spinal pain (TMI) but it all should dissipate I hope time for my flight Sunday. That’s my short term goal. Get this girl from the mid-west OUT of the mid-west!!!
I have a massive thank you blog to write but to do that properly I must be feeling better so I’ll save it for later in the week;)….
If I could give anyone advice after all this it would be this. You just don’t know know when you may need to fight something medically, hopefully that time never comes but I never in a million years would have envisioned myself getting boatloads of chemo and a stem cell transplant at this point in my life. So keep your body as strong as you possibly can now while it’s nice and healthy and take really good care of it. You only get one. If I had any advantage going into this it was that, I had a strong physical body and a healthy diet which really worked in my favor. It helped me get through it a little bit easier. Now, I have to rebuild that again and it will take a little time but that’s ok.
I hope everyone at home has a fun vacation week!!! I should be safe and sound at home when everyone gets back. I can’t wait.
