Hi Everyone!
I have good news today! My cell counts have stabilized and it looks like the IVIG combined with several rounds of Neupogen have been successful. My absolute neutrophil count while still way too low is out of the serious danger zone. I am beyond relieved it is rectifying itself on its own without further medication to help it along. I’ve been tapering off the anti fungals and now only taking antiviral medication and vitamin d daily.
My fatigue is improving but I still need to be mindful to not push too much in a day. I’m working out a little harder now trying to get back in pre-diagnoses shape.
As my appetite is back in gear I’m focusing on eating mostly an anti inflammatory diet but interestingly I am no longer allergic to gluten. I don’t present with the rash and hives I used to. Either way, I won’t cheat too much because no sense in reintroducing something that my body didn’t previously tolerate well. It’s kind of exciting that every once in a while I could go for it though!!
Overall I’m feeling better everyday and am looking forward to seeing the MRI results and testing in Feb. I will be relieved to see my lack of MS symptoms coincide with clinical proof that I have no new lesions and no further disease progression. Hope that I permanently can remain in remission. The statistics are certainly in my favor!
While things are currently going smoothly after my transplant, unfortunately our bodies don’t always give us the results that we desperately hope for. My friend Vanessa is about to undergo a bone barrow transplant for her ALL. For leukemia you use donor cells (I used autologous cells which came from my own immature bone marrow). She does not have an ideal match as of yet but she must undergo the transplant regardless in order to fight this aggressive cancer. If you are reading this please consider joining the database to be be a bone marrow donor. It’s is a simple saliva test that takes one minute and ultimately can save a life. Imagine you needed to save your own life as a mother, daughter, sister etc. and the match was out there but you just couldn’t get it! You can see programs in your area by clicking on http://www.bethematch.org. She is desperately looking for donors of Asian descent as the pool is lessening her chances of an ideal match.
Send your prayers and good thoughts Vanessa’s way as she prepares for her transplant and chemo. Thank u!!!!
