Day +3

Hi everyone.  The steroids have Jennie feeling “not so great” today.  As she puts it, it’s not her “best day.”  I think that the fact that the steroids have caused swelling in her face, or as Jennie calls it, “Puffer face syndrome” isn’t helping our cause.  I have told her this is a temporary state and that Puffer fish are considered a delicacy in many countries.  She also thinks that they have caused her to look four months pregnant, but I disagree.  They are slowly tapering her down and she should be off of them soon.

She did have a strange reaction to one of the medications which caused some spasms in her eyes last night and today.  Now I was way more concerned with this than a little water weight.  Dr. Burt spent a lot of time in the room today and decided to discontinue some of the medications to make sure that this side effect did not continue.  All in all, I think she is doing very well.  We will work on our perspective since Jennie took eight days of chemo better than the results of the steroids, but this gives me great faith that the recovery process will be good.

  1. Jennie and Matt,
We will keep the prayers coming and I am sure that it is frustrating when the meds are causing adverse effects….keep the faith and trust in the excellent care of the doctors. Love you both. Lizzie
